An experienced IT professional having worked in the IT industry since 1992.  Through my degree and early career, I have established a very thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of the IT industry, from technical support to systems development and design.  Later career progression has seen roles in Operations, Project Management and Product Management.   Worked with a variety of technologies including databases, .NET technologies and Web applications.  Certified in Service Management to ITIL Foundation v3 level, Project Management with PRINCE 2 and Agile with a Scrum Product Owner certificate.

Fulfill the Product Owner role for a major upgrade of a Windows-based application to a web application.

Additionally, work with a number of other businesses as an IT Consultant, CRM Project Manager, Product Manager and assisting with the two groups of offices working together as effective consortiums

Key activities:

  • Manage the product backlog using Microsoft Azure DevOps and follow Agile and Scrum principles as closely as possible
  • Provide the link between the offshore development team and the Europe-based stakeholders
  • Manage the work and priorities of the offshore team
  • Act as the “go to person” for all European staff regarding future direction of the product, support issues, change requests etc.
  • Ensure that best practices are followed where possible
  • Introduced automated testing principles into the project and aim for a thigh percentage of new developments to be covered by automated testing tools

  • Hold operational responsibility for the day to day running of an application service. The application supported key business functions including customer relationships, financial, enrollment, reporting and communications tracking.  I oversaw other internal and external resources to ensure that the service meets the needs of the stakeholders, whilst striving for improvements in service, efficiency and quality.

  • Managed the 3 support specialists based in mainland Europe and India
  • Ensured adequate support provision to meet the operational and business needs of 9 international offices according to priority and budget constraints
  • Managed the relationship between our company and our external software provider responsible for the contracts and SLAs
  • Lead the creation of the budget for each financial year and created amendments to the contracts where necessary
  • Established highly collaborative relationships between our international European offices, central international support and the offshore developer
  • Ensured that all necessary documentation is created for processes, best practices etc. using SharePoint and wikis
  • Managed the change management, development, upgrading, deployment and testing of new versions of the application, ensuring that standard procedures were followed
