“Over the last 12 years, I have worked in fast paced and corporate compliance environment. For example, as Chief of Staff (COS) to the Finance Minister, I represented minister in board meetings in 90+ State Owned Enterprises (SOEs). Similarly, as COS of the finance minister, I scrutinized and ensured corporate compliance of all application for setting up of new commercial banks, currency exchange companies and all capital & equity market operators. At Ernst & Young (EY) in Transaction Advisory Service (TAS), for 2.5+ years, I worked on 30+ M&A and corporate due diligence assignments.

 

I have strong numeracy skills through my Chartered Accountancy certification from Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), followed by an undergraduate degree in accounting & finance and subsequently an MBA in Corporate Strategy & Finance from Lancaster University, UK (Ranked number-1 in Corporate Strategy Globally-above Harvard MBA by Financial Times).

 

I am highly organized, have meticulous attention to detail and a problem solver. As COS of the finance minister, I was part of the team led by finance minister who attended meetings at the White House twice. I took minutes of those two meetings. I thoroughly plan and execute meetings including minutes of the meeting in a following way;

  • Send out agenda of the upcoming meeting, invite for the meeting along-with minutes of the previous meetings (if any) to the participants.
  • Follow up with them to confirm if all the participants have received everything they need to prepare for the meeting.
  • Prepare the room beforehand. Depending upon the importance of the meeting, a backup IT support system is maintained- in case something goes wrong.
  • Before the meeting, a meeting pack/folder is placed for all the participants.
  • Chairs are name tagged- to avoid any confusion
  • If required coordination with departments to prepare PPT presentations with all latest facts and figures, progress made as compared to previous meeting.
  • Taking minutes of the meeting- during the meeting.
  • Preparing attendance sheet for the board meeting or shareholders meeting (if required for corporate compliance filing.
  • Circulating minutes of the meeting amongst all participants
  • Following up action plan with all the responsible office/post holders in light of minutes of the meeting.
